The first babies have arrived!

Each spring, The Raptor Center (TRC) sees an influx of more than 250 young raptors in need. The first few months of life are the most challenging for these babies as they are especially vulnerable to spring storms, downed trees, failed attempts to fly, and unnecessary human intervention.

Your generous gift up to $25,000 will again be matched by loyal donors Ann and Tom Schwalen.

The Raptor Center received our first baby nestling of the season, a great horned owl. This young chick survived a 30-foot fall out of its nest, but sustained a fractured jaw (mandible) and a couple of fractures in its left wing. It arrived weighing 570g and in a few days gained 130g (a little over a quarter pound)! Despite being about one third the size of an adult, baby raptors grow so rapidly they eat about twice as much.

Just $5.00 feeds a baby great horned owl in our care for one day.

While in our hospital, babies like this great horned owl need our support to provide them with life saving care. Our hospital is nearly 100% donor supported, meaning your help goes directly to the medications, equipment, food, and expertise required to save these raptors.

Will You Help Us Save Baby Raptors This Spring?

Please give today and help us save baby raptors fighting against the perils of life in the wild. Your gift will be matched dollar to dollar up to $25,000 - the babies are counting on you!
