On URaiseMN's 10th anniversary,
we celebrate you.

URaiseMN, the University of Minnesota’s crowdfunding platform, turns 10 years old this year and we’re thrilled to celebrate your incredible impact on important U of M causes. In the past ten years, you generously donated to crowdfunding causes you're passionate about and more than 2,000 of you fundraised through the site. You’ve jumped in freezing lakes in the middle of winter, hosted lemonade stands, traded birthdays for donations, and more. Together, you’ve impacted the lives of people around the world.

Looking back on a decade of URaiseMN, here’s everything you’ve done.

2014

Crowdfunding is launched. $26,189 is raised in the first year by 145 donors.

2015

The University of Minnesota transitions fundraising for Give to the Max Day, Minnesota's largest day of giving, to be primarily on the crowdfunding platform.

2016

$584,717 is raised from 4,851 gifts.

2017

Because of generous donors, crowdfunding hits $1,000,000 raised for academics and scholarships, community and outreach, medicine and health, veterinary medicine, and more.

2018

Out of all campaigns in 2018, the Raptor Center raised the most for their baby shower fundraiser to help care for young raptors through treatment and the rerelease into the wild.

The Law School's Asylum Law Project received the most donations and was able to provide pro bono legal assistance via law students to organizations in the field of asylum and/or immigration law.

2019

388 fundraisers came together to raise $1,021,876 in a single year from 6,373 donors.

2020

During the pandemic, the URaiseMN community came together raising $118,008 for COVID-19 research and the first FDA Emergency Use Ventilator alternative, known as the Coventor.

2021

The first virtual fundraising event, "Inside the Pandemic: A candid conversation with Dr. Michael Osterholm and Andy Slavitt" was held on the crowdfunding platform.

Over 8,100 viewers attended to hear the work that Dr. Osterholm and his team at the Center of Infectious Disease Research and Policy continue to do. The event raised $41,765 for this inspiring work.

2022

342 individuals created fundraising pages and raised $2,069,685 in a single year from 11,917 generous gifts.

2023

The URaiseMN community created a record-breaking 151 fundraising pages for Give to the Max Day and inspired donations to everything from medicine and health to wolf research, and more.
