At the College of Biological Sciences, we embrace equity by eliminating barriers to science education. CBS outreach programs are designed to create conversations and encourage confidence in young people interested in science. We hope to inspire the next generation of scientists to tackle the grand challenges that lie ahead. This International Women’s Day, we need your help to raise $10,000 for the Richard and Patricia Kirschner Women in Science Program Fund. 

Richard and Patricia Kirschner created this fund to promote programs that encourage young people to learn, explore, and gain confidence in science fields. This fund supports the SciSpark Scholars, an innovative outreach program that connects University of Minnesota scientists with K-12 partners throughout the Twin Cities. 

Since its inception, SciSpark Scholars has partnered with more than 60 local teachers to deliver cutting edge programming to thousands of Minnesota youth. Recently, we’ve focused our efforts on expanding opportunities for middle and high school students to provide a supported and continuous pathway into STEM fields for underrepresented students.
