🎶Join TOGETHER with THE BANDS!!🎶

The UMD Athletic Bands program has gone through a re-organization, and these amazing and talented Marching and Pep Band students at the University of Minnesota Duluth need a lot of help from fans and supporters so their music and Bulldog Spirit can continue the strong tradition!

UMD Alumni are excited to announce our support of the bands and hosting of a $20,000 U Raise MN fundraising goal in the hopes for the continuation and the growth and success of the University of Minnesota Duluth Marching Band under UMD Student Leadership.  

The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Marching and Pep bands have been a part of Bulldog campus and athletic experiences. In 2022, reorganizational changes have happened regarding UMD's bands, and they are no longer official college credited music course at UMD -- and therefore there is no university staff leading them. To keep the UMD bands playing and performing, UMD students took the lead newly forming as a campus life program, and opting to volunteer and run marching and pep bands under student leadership! The student run bands still gratefully have access to advisement from UMD’s music dept. as well, but the students are the one’s running the show now! The UMD Athletic Bands haven’t missed a beat since things shifted over to student management, and have welcomed back veteran instrumentalists, freshmen who have never played before, and many non-music majors from every college within the University! 

Under this new campus life setup, the student run bands will be able to apply for some annual supplemental funding for their independently led CLP bands, but these hard-working students will still need your outside support in order to be successful in maintaining their athletic bands student organization, now, and for years to come. The bands will need extra help cover many fees for sheet music and rights, band camp needs, marching training tools, instrument rentals, storage, uniforms, gear, wind suits, transportation expenses and more. This is where we can rally as a community to help raise money now and for future years UMD’s beloved Athletic Bands, so the beat goes on!

The students in the UMD Athletic Bands are so grateful for the continued and enormous amount of support and help from the University, UMD Alumni, the community and friends of UMD.  The bands have been thrilled to continue to be able to keep entertaining peers and fans alike on campus and during sporting, campus and community events through field and community marching performances, the playing of fight songs, participation in cheers, and continuing to enhance the overall school spirit and Bulldog pride thanks to all the love they have already received from alumni and fans of the bands. GO DOGS!!!
