Your gift is DOUBLED today, up to $50,000 thanks to TRC's loyal donors Ann and Tom Schwalen.

While in our hospital, babies like this great horned owl need our support to provide them with life saving care. Our hospital is nearly 100% donor supported, meaning your help goes directly to the medications, equipment, food, and expertise required to save these raptors.

The first babies have arrived!

To the surprise of TRC staff, the first great horned owl baby arrived very early this year on February 28th after being blown out of its nest. Unfortunately, the little one was only a few days old and did not survive. However, a second great horned owl chick arrived on March 4th and was reunited with its family two days later. Our baby patient and its sibling were placed in a new and improved artificial nest, big enough for the whole family.

Check out what goes into giving baby raptors a second chance:

  • $10 can feed a baby bald eagle for one day
  • $20 can feed an baby American kestrel for one week
  • $40 can feed a baby great horned owl for one week

How else does your generosity directly support baby raptors?

The successful care and release of this owlet despite the odds stacked against it is more than just one feel-good moment. This owlet was able to give us excellent insight into effective fracture treatment techniques in nestling raptors, and its fight for a second chance at life will impact our future success at treating young raptors in need of our care.
