Student safety on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus is an important priority, especially given the location within a large metropolitan area. Boynton Health’s Gopher Chauffeur is a mostly student-run service that provides free, safe rides home for all students on or near the Twin Cities campus.

The University community now has a chance to show support for this program and student safety. Donations made to the Gopher Chauffeur fund will help ensure students get home safely and that student employees are paid a competitive wage and equipped with risk reduction and crisis response management training focusing on inclusion.

The future of the Gopher Chauffeur shines bright with your support! Consider a gift today!

More about Gopher Chauffeur:

Created by the Minnesota Student Association (now the Undergraduate Student Government) in 2007, the then-named MSA Express was a student-led and run initiative consisting of one van and volunteer student drivers that operated two days per week. With a name change in 2010 to Gopher Chauffeur and funding from the student service fee, the Office of Student Affairs, and the Office of the President, the program grew to a small fleet of vehicles and paid student employees that operates seven days per week. Since 2008, the Gopher Chauffeur has provided more than 190,000 rides to students!

Today, the Gopher Chauffeur boasts a small but mighty team of 55 student employees and soon-to-be six vans. Gopher Chauffeur employees are trained in first aid and CPR. Learn more about Boynton Health’s Gopher Chauffeur at https://boynton.umn.edu/gopher-chauffeur
