Support diversity in honor of George Floyd during Student Support Week

On June 5, 2020, University of Minnesota President Joan Gabel announced a new scholarship honoring George Perry Floyd Jr.

The scholarship supports students across the U of M system who enhance the diversity of the student body. Your gift honors the memory of George Floyd by supporting underrepresented students, including the Black or African American leaders of tomorrow.

“We must move forward with a commitment to take action that leverages our diversity, research, teaching, and service missions to advance equity and to promote healing,” said University of Minnesota President Joan Gabel in her announcement about the new scholarship.

To date, almost 500 donors have come together to support this scholarship, including Cresta J., from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, who shared: "I donated to the scholarship honoring George Floyd because it's time for me to start being a part of the solution in changing the effects of institutionalized racism in this country."
