The COVID-19 pandemic has changed all of our lives, and the Center’s dedicated employees have worked countless hours to provide timely new online resources and events that have helped you navigate the stress, anxiety, and trauma of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While so many are seeking to understand the long-lasting impact of COVID-19, the systemic disease of racism has also been brought to the forefront of the nation’s conscience. The systemic exclusion and marginalization of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color permeates our institutions, and is a significant barrier to wellbeing and human flourishing.
Your Support Provides Free Community Resources
As the Center began to examine ways to better serve the community, we quickly decided to begin offering free, online wellbeing programming, including a monthly webinar series featuring Center experts. We also pivoted quickly to deliver Stress Busters - a weekly free drop-in class previously offered to UMN students, faculty, and staff - online to audiences around the world. Most recently, we have implemented sliding scale and pay-as-you-can options for our online community programs like Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
All of these efforts take significant amounts of time to produce, and our small staff are all deeply passionate about your wellbeing. They’ve worked tirelessly to design and deliver online academic courses to students around the University, to conduct research in community settings, to create and sustain relationships with businesses and organizations that help further our mission of wellbeing for all, to communicate with you in clear and trustworthy ways, to ensure inclusive and welcoming environments for all of our students.
Since 1995, we’ve supported your wellbeing. Now we’re asking for your help to ensure that our next 25 years can be even more impactful, and financially stable. We receive only 6% of our annual operating budget from the University, so gifts from people in the community just like you are vital.
As we’ve seen since the pandemic began, the financial support of community members has been critical to helping organizations survive the deep financial impacts that the pandemic has caused. The Center is no different. We need your support to continue to offer accessible online programs and resources to support wellbeing and human flourishing for all.
During Part 3 of the Center's free online Wellbeing Series for Planetary Health, community leaders shared facts about how climate change is impacting Minnesota, and how you can help. View this Series online.
