Flexible funding from the Dean’s Excellence Fund is available annually for the dean to use for her highest priorities to bolster the School’s core strengths and pressing needs as they arise.

Carlson Undergraduate Emergency Tuition Relief

This important initiative makes a difference because it can help the Carlson School retain talented undergraduate students through temporary hardship, allowing them to focus on their studies and student experience. The fund provides support for students at the Carlson School of Management who might otherwise have to suspend their studies due to financial hardship.

Tom Burnett Scholarship at the Carlson School

In recognition of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attack, the Burnett Family established this endowed scholarship to honor the memory of Tom Burnett, ’86 BSB, an alum of the Carlson School of Management. This fund will be used to support undergraduate students who are Minnesota residents and demonstrate leadership, service and academic merit.

Carlson Women Global Connect (CWGC) Fund

Carlson Women Global Connect (CWGC) is an alumni affinity network at the Carlson School seeks to foster a culture of lifelong engagement and build a community of alumni dedicated to helping one another succeed. This fund helps to advance initiatives that support gender diversification at the Carlson School and in the workforce and foster engagement between Carlson School students and members of Carlson Women Global Connect.

Carlson Global Institute (CGI) Scholarship Fund

Through immersive educational experiences, strategic cross-cultural partnerships, and informative research, the Carlson Global Institute (CGI) connects the Carlson School to the international business community and shapes leaders ready to confront global challenges. This scholarship supports graduate and undergraduate students at the Carlson School of Management who are participating in an international business experience.

Medical Valuation Lab

Since its inception in 2008, the Valuation Lab has had a wide audience, ranging from students in eight different colleges at the University of Minnesota who want to gain hands-on, real-world experience, to clients and inventors who want a top-to-bottom analysis of their medical technology and its prospects in the market, to recruiters looking for future employees. The Lab depends on financial support of alumni and friends to expand this already unique experience and increase its global presence.

MN Cup

MN Cup is a self-funded program within the Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship, securing sponsorships to fund up to $500,000 in annual cash prizes and its lean team of two. All 2021 Give to the Max Day funds will directly benefit one of two programs we’re building to serve founders, the Female Founders Resource Fund and the Founders of Color Resource Fund.

CHRLS Social Justice Fund for Masters Students

Created in 2020, the 75th anniversary of the Center for Human Resources and Labor Studies, the CHRLS Social Justice Fund for Masters Students provides support to HRIR students who are continuing the Center’s work toward social justice for all marginalized workers around the globe. The fund acknowledges the social justice contributions of CHRLS faculty, staff, students and alumni, continues the important work they’ve begun, and advances the idea that business is a force for good.

Carlson Executive MBA (CEMBA) Leadership Fund

Specifically designed for those with at least six years of career experience, the intimate 2-year Carlson Executive MBA at the University of Minnesota lets you share the classroom with your EMBA peers, who are all leaders from diverse backgrounds. This fund makes it possible for CEMBA to provide financial support to underrepresented audiences, helping to attract more women, students of color, and entrepreneurs to our program.

Carlson Consulting Enterprise (CCE)

The Carlson Consulting Enterprise is a unique management consultancy and academic program that brings the brightest student minds to bear on significant business challenges for premier companies. Over a third of the over 350 CCE projects since 2003 have been in the social impact space. This fund supports the expansion of services to support governments, non-profits, social enterprises, and educational institutions, helping us broaden our reach and impact.
