The School for Environmental Studies in Apple Valley, MN is teaming up with the department of Urology at the University of Minnesota to Climb 4 Kidney Cancer as a part of a high altitude physicology class for high school juniors and seniors.  While learning how high altitude affects human physiology, we plan to travel to Mexico to climb the highest point in mexico and the third highest point in all of North America, Pico de Orizaba and directly apply what we learn.  We also plan to dedicate our climb to patients affected by kidney cancer and plan to match climbers with patient and carry photos of patients with us to the top. We hope to bring attenteion to this underfunded cancer and raise money for kidney cancer research scholarships at the University of Minnesota.  Please see http://climb4kc.org/donate/ for more details of research projects ongoing at the university.

In addition, we are preventing kidney cancer.  Did you know that a healthy diet, not smoking and physical exercise may actually help prevent nearly 70% of all kidney cancers? Kidney cancer is associated with obesity, smoking and high blood pressure.  Amazingly runners have been noted to have lower rates of kidney cancer and those that eat 5 servings of fruits or vegetables a day have 50% lower chance of kidney cancer. So by climbing for kidney cancer, you may actually lower your own risk of kidney cancer.

Please donate and keep climbing 4 kidney cancer.  Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
