My name is Cayman, and I’m a sophomore member of the UMD dance team. I grew up in the Chanhassen dance community over the last 15 years where I was raised and trained by VELOCITY Dance and Theater and the Chanhassen High School dance team. I am excited to have the opportunity to continue my time at my studio, whether it be motivating the talented VDT artists, choreographing, assisting, teaching, traveling, cheering, or supporting; it’s my happy place and my forever dance family. I also recently accepted a position coaching the Chaska High School winter competitive dance team and cannot wait to inspire and be inspired by their artistry and passion for all things dance.
In my spare time, my favorite things include traveling and spending time with my family, relatives, friends, and puppies at my cabin in northern MN where we enjoy wake surfing, boating, snowmobiling, and hanging out.
I am currently an exercise science major with a sports science concentration and a Hispanic studies minor. Upon completion of my Bachelor of Science degree, I hope to continue my education and pursue a career as a chiropractor while remaining heavily involved in the dance community and industry.
The UMD dance team has become my escape from all of life’s stressors, it’s a place and team built upon trust, safety, security, passion, and love; in our crazy world, this team is a safety net and a family. Our team gives each of us the opportunity to express ourselves and create a bond that is truly indescribable. I know our path ahead will be incredible, and I cannot wait to see where season 2 in the UDA division takes us!
Each season, every UMDDT dancer pays approximately $2,000 out of pocket to cover flights, costumes, miscellaneous fees, camp, nationals, hotels, poms, apparel, game-day attire, etc. Please consider supporting me in my journey to nationals at Disney World in Orlando, FL this January, I appreciate your time and generosity.
