Gender empowerment groups across the U of M have partnered together to raise funds for The Aurora Center in recogniton of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Despite the invaluable services and support offered by the Aurora Center to our students, they have operated with a budget deficit, not being able to fund multiple positions necessary to meet the demands of the center. This is absolutely unacceptable. To help support The Aurora Center's work, several student groups will host fundraisers throughout the week of April 9th, 2017.
Through this effort, we hope to bring needed attention to Aurora's fundraising potential, get them some needed funds, & show the University, particularly the Foundation, that they should invest in development & targeted donor outreach for critical student services.
The Fund Aurora week will kick off with a panel discussion hosted by She's The First and Her Campus with the support of Panhellenic Council. The panel will take place in the Coffman Memorial Union Theatre on Sunday April 9th from 6-8pm and will collect donations at the door.
Thank you to participating groups: Her Campus, Minnesota Student Association, She's The First, Panhellenic Council, Lean In, Women for Political Change, Society of Women Engineers, oSTEM, Compass, Women in Business, & Beauty Gurus.
