According to the Alzheimer's Association, over 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia, and more than 15 million caregivers (mostly family members) provide over 18.1 hours of unpaid care. Every 66 seconds, someone in the U.S. developes Alzheimer's, and the value of family care for persons with dementia is 8 times the annual revenue of McDonald's.  Clearly, Alzheimer's disease and the care family provides to their relatives with memory loss is a pressing public health problem. To help families and professionals navigate the many challenges of dementia care, we first offered the Caring for a Person with Memory Loss conference in 2008.  Now into its 10th year (the conference will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 at the Humphrey Conference Center at the University of Minnesota), the conference has served literally thousands of families and professionals by providing tools, resources, and education to ensure quality memory loss care for those who need it. More information about the conference is available here.

The Caring for a Person with Memory Loss conference is free for families or those who do not wish to purchase continuing education hours. The conference is made possible with the generous sponsorships and CE purchases of our many supporting organizations and attendees over the years. In the past, many of you have asked how else you could help. You can help support the University of Minnesota’s ongoing education efforts related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, one of those efforts being the Caring for a Person with Memory Loss conference, by giving a monetary donation. We accept any amount that you are willing to donate!  All donations are tax deductible, and all proceeds will be used for the support of activities related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Some of these activities could be conference related including: speaker honoraria, provision of free food, rental fees for the event location, recording of all conference presentations for all to view, and copies of handouts. We so appreciate you taking the time to help us with your support!
