Update 12/18: I have underestimated you, Minnesota. After 12 hours, we have hit our initial goal of $10,000.
But why stop now? Let's keep making a difference.
New Goal: $25,000
My name is Peter Mortell and I'm currently a Punter/FG Holder (Specialist) on the University of Minnesota football team. Last year, our team participated in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. As part of our gift package, we were given a $452 gift card to BestBuy. I decided to use my gift card to buy Christmas gifts for kids at St. Joseph's Home for Children. The feedback I've received since has been overwhelming. All of the people who showed their support helped me realize how willing to give our community truly is. It got me thinking- how can we do something bigger and better this year? That's how "A Very Specialist Christmas" was born.
I'm proud to partner with the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital to raise money and buy gifts for the many teenage patients who are spending their holiday in a hospital room. Many times, people generously donate gifts for younger kids and children. As amazing as this is, often the demographic of teenage patients gets overlooked- but not this year. My goal is to raise money so that we can purchase gifts that not only current patients at the hospital can use, but future patients as well.
My team and I are currently in the process of searching for a corporation to match all donations raised. It is my hope to bring smiles to these patients this year, and with your help, my $25,000 goal is well within reach. Please consider donating to my cause and help teenagers at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital have a "Very Specialist Christmas."
In addition to the gifts made through this page, I'd like to thank U of M President Eric Kaler and his wife, Karen, for contributing an additional $1,000 to this cause. Thank you!
