Rocketry Club at UMD was founded six years ago, as an opportunity for students of any major to join and become educated in aerospace and engineering outside of the classroom.  Our diverse group includes students majoring in various engineering fields focused on topics including aerodynamics, thermodynamics, fluids, structures, and propulsion. Over the years rocketry has lead to more than us just learning about rockets and going to a competition.

Recently, Bulldog Rocketry has become more involved in the community, by participating in different outreach events that help educate anyone willing to learn about rocket science (Don't worry it's only rocket science).  We enjoy teaching others and showing kids the different engineering aspects of rocketry, while tackling our own challenges of building a hybrid rocket.

In past years, we have competed in the national high power rocketry competition and won three out of the five years. On top of making a rocket last year, we developed a hybrid rocket engine capable of flying to 30,000 feet.  With our hybrid rocket engine, we plan to enter the Spaceport America Cup near Las Cruces, NM and compete against teams on the international level.  However, getting to this competition and building this rocket will be costly and we need all the help we can get to accomplish our goal that was set forth at the beginning of last year: to fly a hybrid rocket.

Your donations will go directly towards material costs of building a hybrid rocket as well as our travel, competition dues, and lodging expenses.

Designing, manufacturing, testing, outreach events and flying high power rockets helps our team gain skills including teamwork, presentation, communication and project management.  Without your support we would not be able to gain this valuable experience and make this possible.
