Bear was our beautiful, 6 year old Aussie. He loved to play fetch, chew on his toys, and "talk to us". He was a very vocal dog, and made the funniest, and most expressive sounds. He left an impression on everyone he met, and was beloved by all those that had the privilege to know him. He was very young when he passed from hemangiosarcoma, but he left us memories that will last a life time.
To honor Bear's memory, we would like to ask our friends, families, and anyone else who would like to contribute, to support Dr. Jaime Modiano's research into treating and diagnosing hemangiosarcoma. We were in contact with Dr. Modiano right after Bear underwent his first procedure, and he not only gave us a lot of good information about the disease that would later take Bear from us, but he was very compassionate about our situation.
Dr. Modiano is currently engaged in studies that aim to improve early detection of hemangiosarcoma, which is the primary reason we'd like to fund his research. By the time we knew Bear was sick, it was too late. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case with most pups who encounter this fatal cancer. Being able to detect and treat hemangiosarcoma earlier could have given us more time with Bear, so anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help, and thanks for remembering Bear.
